There’s a new, family-friendly party in town on the May long weekend in Whistler.
Whistler’s newest and most active festival may be just the thing you’re looking for. The inaugural GO Fest Whistler – Great Outdoors Festival, kicks off the village’s busy summer event season this Victoria Day Long Weekend, from May 16-19, 2014.
GO Fest allows the opportunity to combine Whistler’s seasonal offerings into a festival that celebrates a unique time of year when people can enjoy Whistler in their own way. Attendees can choose their own adventure, whether it’s winter or summer themed activities.
The Festival’s four-day schedule is packed full of sport, music, arts & cultural activities – all the ingredients that have helped to make Whistler such a popular year-round destination.
Some of the event highlights I’m looking forward to include; the AlpenGlow Fun Run, a family-friendly run/walk/skip/stroll on the illuminated trail around beautiful Lost Lake; watching the multi-sport Great Snow-Earth-Water Race, on Sunday, May 18th; and observing the craziness of the Great Slush Cup, on Blackcomb Mountain, Monday, May 19th.
As part of GO Fest’s Training & Demo event options, you can also get in on the fun. Why not demo some new summer activities like Stand Up Paddle boarding (SUP) on Nita Lake, give fly-fishing a go, or try trail running at the Comfortably Numb Trail Running Race around Lost Lake?
In celebration of GO Fest’s first year, Whistler resort is offering a third night free option for attendees, making it easier (and more affordable) to enjoy an active and relaxing family weekend away.
Happy Victoria Day long weekend!
