Summer Travel Lonely Planet Book Contest

Lonely Planet Book Giveaway (via

The weather has finally become warm and summer-like in much of Canada and the USA, and our thoughts are turning to summer travel planning.

In a stroke of perfect timing, and in celebration of the relaunch of our blog, we’re delighted to partner with Lonely Planet in offering a summer travel reading contest! Lonely Planet Kids has fantastic kids and adult travel books to raise the excitement level on your summer holiday planning.

The Lonely Planet Kids Adventures series continues to knock fun reading out of the park with its latest offering – the Adventures in Famous Places sticker book. This activity book is packed with over 250 stickers, and will leave kids (aged 3-5) inspired to visit famous spots around the globe. The usual, well-known suspects of the Tower of London and White House in Washington, DC, make an appearance, but many lesser known festivals and ought-to-be-famous spots – such as the Addo Elephant Park in South Africa – are featured as well.

The book’s colourful artwork and design are appealing to young children, while the stickers are easy to use for small fingers. The books encourage parental involvement, in reading the words with your children and helping them find the fish stickers to feed the puffins in Iceland. Or placing the royal crown jewels in the Tower of London. These books are great pack-alongs for road and airplane trips too.

Since adults deserve some reading fun too, we’re throwing in the #1 Best-Selling guide to Coastal California. This comprehensive travel planning resource includes a Pacific Coast Highway guide, detailed sight-seeing recommendations for the entire California coast from north to south, Understand California tidbits and the basic Survival Guide. We’ve been using this fab guide ourselves, as we plan our family’s summer road trip through the Pacific Northwest to California. The book is easy to navigate and pack along on your trip. I still enjoy ‘hard copy’ books and guides, as the Internet and iPhone battery-life aren’t always as reliable as we’d like them to be on the road.
