Get Excited for Summer Travel with Lonely Planet Kids

Lonely Planet Kids does it again! We review new and great travel books to keep kids entertained and happy on the road or in the air.

We’re revving up for summer travel season! There’s nothing quite like travel planning books and maps to help kids (and adults) get excited about future family travel adventures. Our latest Lonely Planet Book giveaway will help your little travellers learn and get pumped about their future travel destinations

Researching and planning family trips creates excitement and that anticipation creates happiness. One can’t argue with creating happy children, and My Family Travel Map will have your busy explorers stickering up a storm on the books’ enclosed (and detachable) world travel map.

My Family Travel Map

Beware, this super-interactive sticker book will fuel wanderlust – with the bonus of world geography knowledge – in your child. The book features a detachable world map, and loads of stickers for kids to mark where they live, where they’ve been, and where they want to go. There are additional stickers for transportation, weather, and friends and family to personalize and customize the wall-friendly map.

My Family Travel Map also has interesting factoids about each country on the map. Did you know that Canada has more than two million bodies of water? Neither did I! This is the perfect book for any child interested in learning more about the world around them. Bonus: it’s a great and fun way for families to work on their travel plans together.

Boredom Busters

Now that your kids have packed their bags and are ready to go, how will you keep them entertained in the car or on the road? Lonely Planet Kids’ Boredom Busters is the solution to the dreaded ‘are we there yet‘ whine (call?) of the bored, backseat boys and girls. This ‘games for the road’ softcover book is stuffed with games for solitary or sibling play, including alphabet, imagination games, quiet mind games, even candy solitaire (candy supplies not included). There’s lots of opportunity for adults to chime in on the fun too, and wouldn’t it be nice to tear the kids from their screens from time to time? YES!

  1. We are staying in province this summer. We’ll be visiting Banff, Jasper and Calgary for sure and maybe a weekend up in Grande Prairie.

  2. Angela Mitchell

We’re taking the kids on a camping trip through the Okanagan and to Revelstoke in August. I’m also taking a couple of quick trips to Seattle and Vancouver (my first time at Grouse Mountain and Capilano Suspension bridge). I’m really looking forward to my summer travel this year!

    1. Wow, it sounds like you’re going to enjoy a wonderful trip. Love Revelstoke and the Okanagan!

  3. Travelling through Saskachewan and spending time at our lake cabin and hopefully a last minute flight somewhere unplanned 🙂
