If a photograph is worth a thousand words, then I wonder what it’s worth in terms of memories? As the recipient of childhood photo albums, and albums going back to my grandmother, I can tell you. They are priceless. Maintaining a visual record of our family history and its special moments is incredibly important to me. As we do a LOT of travelling, many of our special family moments are travel moments. But as the chief family photographer, I’m missing from many of those pictures. So how thrilling to have the opportunity to get in front of the camera for once, and enjoy a professional photo session, capturing the best family vacation memories with Flytographer.
Flytographer has a network of photographers in over 200 cities. You can book your photo shoot ahead of time, or as you’re travelling. It’s best to plan the day of your shoot a few days in advance, and that’s where the helpful Flytographer photo shoot concierge comes in. The shoot concierge puts you and your photographer in touch with each other, helps advise on some great location options (and how to get there if you’re in an unfamiliar city), good time of day to capture the best light, even where to get your hair done before the shoot to ensure extra gorgessity.
The best part of organizing a Flytographer photo shoot on vacay is that YOU will be in all of the photos. Looking fabulous in photos taken by a professional local Flytographer. No awkward selfies with photobombing strangers or bad angles. These are photos you’ll want to show everyone, and display on your wall when you get back home. And those holiday cards? Done!
These photos will capture memories that will make you smile for years after you’ve returned home, and marvel at how the kids have grown and changed as time passes. And do you really need more of those schlocky souvenirs anyway? Didn’t think so.
Family Vacation Photos with Flytographer
Our photo shoot took place in Vancouver, one of our favorite cities, and at one of our favorite places, Granville Island. While we’re very familiar with the Island, our Flytographer Gillian found some new, unique spots for cool photo backdrops. She encouraged us to be natural and have fun with the shoot.
I couldn’t be more delighted with how our pictures turned out. As a parent of teenagers – young men really – I can tell you that time with our children passes far too quickly. It’s worth taking an hour out of your travels to capture these precious moments in a way you’ll want to remember forever.
The photo shoot was just one hour long, and Gillian probably snapped 250+ photos. We received 50 photos within 48 hours of our shoot, an impressive turnaround time. The boys couldn’t wait to see themselves and share some with friends – they are the Insta generation after all. I’ve posted some of our favorites below. Tell me which one you like best!
