How to Choose the Best Slopeside Resorts Whistler Village

Whistler-bound skiers and boarders rejoice. Experience cosy, convenient Whistler ski-out resort bliss on Blackcomb Mountain with Wyndham Vacation Rentals.

I’ve lost count of how many places (not to mention how often), we’ve stayed on our ski weekends in Whistler. Over the course of twenty-five years, let’s just say it’s a big number. Yet there’s always something new to discover in Canada’s biggest ski resort playground. For skiers and riders who want to be close to the action, staying slopeside is the only option. Here are some of the best slopeside resorts Whistler Village has to offer.

Blackcomb Springs Suites

We enjoyed a cosy weekend at Blackcomb Springs Suites. This resort is one of the many ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacation Rentals properties in Whistler. It’s very well-located on the slopes of Blackcomb Mountain, above the Upper Village.

We felt immediately at home as soon as we entered the lobby and spotted the hotel pool just outside the dining area. We gathered in the dining room each morning for the complimentary breakfast that is included in a stay at the Blackcomb Springs Suites. The selection of hot oatmeal, toast, cereals, fruit and custom-made waffles is perfect for fueling up with good food energy for a day on the slopes.

Two-Bedroom Suite

The hotel and room interiors are ski-chalet chic in style, with an emphasis on comfort and convenience. These two factors are critical for us anytime we opt for a vacation rental home.  Our two-bedroom suite came complete with a fully-equipped kitchen, spacious living and dining areas, gas fireplace, balcony, and enough closest storage for all our winter gear. It was a perfect vacation rental home for our stay.

With a view of the lifts, pool area and ski run, our suite was a perfect setting to enjoy family dinner in our room. Our two teen boys enjoyed more than enough space to stretch out their six-foot frames in their room or on the sofas. The free Wi-Fi was also a hit, no surprise there.

Free Ski Check

One of the perks of Blackcomb Springs Suites is the free, secure ski-check that is located just twenty steps from the ski run next to the hotel property. It seriously doesn’t get more ski-in, ski-out convenient that grabbing your ski gear, walking a few steps and popping into your bindings for a short run down to the lift. Skiing-in and doing the same thing in reverse on the way home from your epic day is just as satisfying. This is the closest ski-check-to-hill ratio we’ve ever enjoyed, and now I’m totally spoiled!

Our visit to Whistler took place early in the ski season, when conditions can often be sketchy. Ski-in, ski-out opportunities are dependent upon a decent snow-base after all. So how delighted were we to find more than enough of the white stuff for us to access Blackcomb’s lifts up the mountain. [Not pictured below. That’s the Peak to Peak Gondola!]

Peace of Mind

The convenient ski-in, ski-out access to Blackcomb Mountain, on-site equipment rentals and storage, complimentary breakfast and WiFi all added up to a relaxing winter getaway. As Blackcomb Springs Suites is a ResortQuest by Wyndham Vacation Rentals properties, it’s backed by the Vacation Rental Bill of Rights. This ensures that guest bookings are solid, secure and inspected regularly to ensure resort quality.

The Low Down

The mountain location is fabulous for guests who’ve come to Whistler to ski, it can’t be beat. Secondly, the suite was pristine – totally, sparklingly clean. Even the tile grout in the bathroom was spotless and white. This is serious attention to detail, and we really appreciated it. With all the horror stories you hear about hotel cleanliness, things cannot be too clean in my view. Last, and not least, the staff were super friendly and helpful. From the lobby clerk to the ski-check staff, everyone was smiling and gracious.

Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside

Located in the main village just a few steps from Blackcomb’s Excalibur gondola, the Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside is the closest resort in Whistler Village to the slopes. A fairly luxurious hotel with suites that feature full kitchens and walk-out balconies, Mountainside also has a large heated salt-water outdoor pool with two hot tubs overlooking the village. It’s one of the best slopeside resorts in Whistler to watch all the action while soaking sore muscles from a great day on the slopes. Mountainside has free ski check for its guests, as well as guests of its sister property, Pan Pacific Village Centre, just a few feet away.

Fairmont Chateau Whistler

The Fairmont Chateau Whistler is located in the Upper Village, right at the base of Blackcomb Mountain. Hotel guests can easily access the Wizard Express and get straight into some fabulous ski terrain. The rooms are cosy and comfortable, and this award-winning property has excellent restaurants like Portobello, the Chalet and Grill Room, and a lovely wellness centre, the Vida Wellness Spa. The hotel has partnered with Luggage Forward to assist guests with shipping their skis to and from the hotel, a convenient service that also applies to golf bags and clubs in summertime.

This place is definitely a winter wonderland, Claudia. You must have had an awesome time there. How many days would you recommend staying there?

    1. Thanks Agness! Depending on how much you love to ski or ride, you can enjoy an entire amazing week in Whistler and not be bored. There’s so much to do off the hills as well, in addition to a fabulous food scene. If you only have a long weekend, then it will be packed with as much or as little as you’d like. 🙂

I can’t believe that is a hotel, the front room looks SO cosy! It sounds like a you had a wonderful time in the snow (and it really does look like perfect snow for a ski-in ski-out resort). You had me at custom waffles lol.

  4. It is such a pity that I never learned to Ski (I guess I never really had access to snow in my younger years). But I do love snow and activities such as tubing and zip lining, in a place like this, sound like the perfect way to spend a winter holiday. The resort looks pretty awesome too, so cosy and simplistic. Thanks for this review, you seem to have had an amazing holiday!

    1. Thank you! The great thing about Whistler is the fact that there is so much to do beyond the slopes. Everyone can find something that they enjoy, which makes for a great holiday.

  5. The resort looks fantastic and you had me at custom made waffles! The suite looks like a nice apartment so I can see how it would feel like home. Cool that you had a view of the pool! I’m not a skier but I can imagine the convenience you are talking about from getting your skis to getting on with the fun! I hope to visit Whistler in the winter someday and will be sure to look up this place! Seems like there are lots of things to do there and I’d love the ziplining!

  6. This looks like so much fun! Would love to go to Whistler one day. The zip lining and tubing would be on top of my list!

  7. I love BC but I’ve never managed to make it to Whistler. This Lodge looks like the place to stay, especially if you’re in Whistler to ski! The rooms sound super cozy and even more than skiing I’d love to visit the Audain Art museum!

    1. I hope that you get to visit Whistler one day too Paige! And the Audain is outstanding – well worth the indoor time. 🙂

  8. This place looks lovely. I’m not really a skier, but I love a cozy lodge. This looks like the perfect winter getaway.

  9. Vicky and Buddy

I don’t know much about skiing, but I really like the concept of “ski-in, ski-out” because it just seems so convenient! And the fact that the property was so clean makes me love it even more. Can’t wait to visit!

  10. Okay, that ski-in, ski-out sounds amazing. I guess I know where I’m staying the next time I’m in Whistler in the winter.

  11. I’ve never been skiing, I’m terrified of breaking a leg! Ziplines & apres ski are much more my thing! The pool at the hotel looks amazing – I hope it’s nice and warm! The two bed apartments are great for families, it sounds like you all had a great time!

  12. Complimentary breakfast is always a good thing. The 2 bedrooms looked really nice. A fireplace after being out in the cold sounds nice and cozy too.

  13. Jenny - TraveLynn Family

What a fantastic trip! I love that there is so much to do there other than skiing.

  14. Whistler has long been on my wish list for a winter vacation with our boys. This looks amazing!

  15. Ski-in/ski-out and a suite with a kitchen? This place sounds perfect for a winter weekend getaway.

  16. We have been eyeing a trip up to Whistler, not only did you convince me to go — but now I have all sorts of great tips before we plan it! Thanks!

    1. That’s great to hear! Very glad to have helped you make that choice. You’re going to have a great time I’m sure!
